Dental Therapist
Mrs Arlene Aiton C of M Dental Therapist Cert
Arlene started out in the dental profession in 1978 when she trained to be a dental nurse at Dundee Dental Hospital. Following qualification she decided to embark on further training in order to qualify as a dental therapist, this meant moving south in order to train at New Cross Hospital in South East London where she qualified in 1983. She then worked within the community dental services for a number of years before taking a career break in order to raise her family.
Following changes in government legislation in 2002/2003 allowing dental therapists to work in general dental practice, she enrolled on a “getting back to practice” course to update her knowledge and refresh her clinical skills, before taking up a position in general practice.
Arlene continues to attend numerous continued professional development courses in order to keep up to date with best clinical practice.
